At Phoenix Otology, we are committed to providing the highest quality and most up-to-date medical and surgical care to all of our patients of all ages. Conditions related to the ear include hearing loss (both neurosensory and conductive), chronic ear infections and cholesteatoma, vertigo and dizziness, skull base tumors (including acoustic and facial neuromas, and glomus tumors), and facial nerve disorders. With most ear conditions, there are multiple medical and surgical options to consider and treatment plans are individually customized for optimal functional outcome. Dr. Macias specializes in minimally invasive surgical and radio-surgical techniques that maximize treatment results, and minimize patient discomfort and recovery. The office provides state of the art audiology (hearing) and vestibular (balance) testing with Certified Audiologists. Biography

Dr. John D. Macias received a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and received his Medical Doctorate with Honors from Stanford University Medical School. He completed his clinical internship in general surgery at the University of Iowa and his residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in Neuro-Otology and Skull Base Surgery at The Otology Group in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Macias is Board Certified in both Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Neurotology.

Dr. Macias is member of numerous international and local medical societies, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American Otological, Rhinological and Laryngological Society (The Triological Society), the American Neurotology Society, and the American College of Surgeons. Most recently, Dr. Macias has been elected to the American Otological Society. He also founded and is President of the EAR Foundation of Arizona, a 501(c) 3 non-profit community service organization, which helped bring universal newborn hearing screening to the State of Arizona and monitors the program for the state, provides hearing aids to children, and performs research on otologic disorders (www.earfoundationaz.com).
